Growing up surrounded by books
I was an avid reader from an early age,
which created a love affair with the written word,
continuing long into adulthood.
Ever since I can remember I have noticed errors in the texts I read,
and there were many times when my mind would whirl trying to amend
- or edit, as I now know it to be! - certain phrases or sentence structures,
which I was convinced would work better and improve the text.
As a creative writer myself I understand the importance of finding
and using the correct words, and making sure the text is coming
across in the best possible light.
I am happiest reading or writing, and have always been
enthusiastic about the English language,
which I have channelled into my career
as a proofreader and copy-editor.

My range of skills derived from university, volunteering roles
and various Hospitality-based jobs
means I can apply myself to most situations.
They have also ensured that I can deliver
high levels of customer care,
whilst working quickly and efficiently
under pressure, and to a tight deadline.
QUALIFICATIONS
After many years in Hospitality, I felt ready for a change and a fresh challenge.
I studied for a Diploma in Proofreading and Editing
from the College of Media and Publishing,
graduating with a Distinction.
I am also an Entry-Level member of
the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP),
who offer support, training and guidance
to everyone in the editing industry.
I am excited by the challenges presented by this new chapter in my life!
